Hand over the car key at the parking lot.
The car key is handed over at the parking lot. You can start your journey with a quick procedure.
Your reserved car may be picked up in the yard (parking lot).

We will check the vehicle body immediately. Leave your vehicle in a safe condition for a thorough inspection.

Fuel check
Fuel level check Please fill up the vehicle at a nearby gas station before returning it. Please present your receipt when returning the car.

Completion of return and drop off near the airport
Upon return, we can drop you off near the airport for your departure. *If you would like us to drop you off near the airport, please return your car at least 2 hours prior to your flight departure time.
*Note that if we find any forgotten items, we will not mail them to you. Please understand that we will dispose of them.

Any amount of compensation or indemnity in excess of the limits of the compensation system shall be borne by the customer.
If you fall under the disclaimer clause of the insurance policy, or if you violate the Karī Rental Car rental car terms and conditions, none of Karī Rental Car's compensation plans that have been chosen for the rental car will be applied. You will be responsible for the full amount of damages and compensation.
You will be responsible for all indirect damage, including business damage and cargo damage, due to malfunction of equipment installed in the rental car. The customer is responsible for providing insurance and other compensation for these indirect damages.

Non-operation charge
If you sign up for the Non-Operation-Charge (NOC) waiver at 3,000 yen per day, the NOC will differ depending on the car. Your NOC will be reduced by half in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle and the vehicle requiring repair or cleaning. *Optional

Insurance will not cover:
- In the event of an accident if you do not report it to the police and our company
- Accidents caused by a driver other than the one named at the time of departure
- Accident when driving without a license
- Accident due to drunk driving
- Accident due to drug use
- Accident when using the car without permission
- Accident caused during a rental period extended without consent
- Other cases if you left the car key in the car and your belongings are stolen
- If the battery has been drained inadvertently (e.g. lights left on)
- If the repair period exceeds 7 days
- If you lost the key fob (key)
- If tires are punctured or damaged
- If the car smells of cigarette smoke (signs of smoking)
- If there have been drinks spilled in the car (food waste)
- If the seat is soiled
- In case of loss or damage to in-car equipment
- If problems occurred while renting the car
Modify/Cancel a Reservation
Modify/Cancel
Please modify or cancel your reservation on our website.
In addition, if you do not contact us within one hour after your rental pick-up time, we will treat the reservation as "canceled."
In addition, if the rental contract is not concluded, you will be charged a penalty equal to the amount of the cancellation fee.
Please be advised that if we are unable to rent you a car of the class you have booked, we will either provide a car of a different car class from the reservation or cancel the rental contract.

*These cancellation charges are as of July 1, 2023. They are subject to change without notice.
*Please contact us if you no longer need to rent the vehicle due to the cancellation of an airplane or ship because of unseasonable weather.
Penalties
- Parking fine 25,000 yen: If you violated parking conditions or left the car in an inappropriate place, penalties will be collected, regardless of whether you have been reported to the police or not.
- Fuel policy penalty from 20,000 yen to 25,000 yen (set for each vehicle): A fuel penalty will be collected in the event that you forget to put in fuel or put in the wrong fuel.
- Overdue return fee 10% of the rental rate: 10% of the hourly fee will be collected if you continue to drive a rental vehicle after the return time or delay the return time with notification less than 30 minutes in advance. If you are more than 2 hours after the return time or extend your return time without notice, as it causes inconvenience to subsequent customers, 100% of the rental rate is collected as an overdue return fee. If we deem the rental extension is malicious, we will charge 3 times the rental daily rate x the number of days of the extension.

Foreign Drivers with Permit
Customers who have not obtained a Japanese driver’s license

You can drive for one year after landing in Japan by holding an international driving permit that conforms to the Geneva Convention*.

Collision Damage Waiver and Non-Operation Charge
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
A system that allows exemptions from the amount of payment (vehicle and property deductibles) in the event of an accident involving bodily injury or property damage.
Non-Operation Charge (NOC)
Payment of compensation for the period during which the rental company is unable to supply the car to a customer due to repair, cleaning, etc.

In the unlikely event of an accident, please take the following four actions as soon as possible.
It includes important procedures for applying for insurance and compensation, so be sure to follow all four procedures.

First Aid for the Injured
First, provide first aid to the injured. Then immediately move the rental vehicle to a location where it will not interfere with other traffic.

Contact and report the accident to the police
Both the perpetrator and the victim are obliged to notify the police. The accident certificate will be required at a later date, so please take the necessary procedures.

- Can anyone rent a car?
- Age restrictions apply depending on the vehicle. For more information, please visit the Find Out More section for the car you wish to book.
- What should I do if I'm going to be late for my pick-up time?
- Please contact us before the pick-up time you specified. If you do not contact us within one hour after your specified pick-up time, your reservation will be automatically canceled and you may not be able to use your reserved vehicle.
- Can I rent a car if I have not brought my driver’s license?
- If you do not present your driver’s license to us, you will not be able to rent the vehicle. Please be sure to bring it with you on the day of your reservation.
- Can I cancel my reservation?

No cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel your booking more than 7 days prior to your specified pick-up time. - What payment methods are available?
- Payment can be made by payment on pick-up or advance payment (credit card or QR payment).
- Do you provide a transportation service to and from the airport area?
- We provide a free transportation service to and from the airport area. We also offer a vehicle delivery service for a fee. A fee of 3,000 yen one-way is charged. (To the airport. Please contact us in advance as we may not be able to deliver a vehicle depending on our reservation status or availability).
- What should I do with the fuel?
- We will supply your vehicle with a full tank of fuel, so please fill the tank with the fuel specified by the vehicle manufacturer before returning it.
- If it was not an accident, but the car has been slightly scuffed, do I have to follow the prescribed procedure?
- Yes, it is necessary. Regardless of the size of the scratches or dents, or the presence or absence of the other party, it will be treated as an accident. Please be sure to follow the prescribed procedures above, even if you are unsure whether it is required or not. (If necessary procedures are not taken, insurance and compensation will not be applied, and the customer will be responsible for the total cost.)
